Joint Recital: Through it all – Faith In Spite of Pain
Tenor Colin Eaton and soprano Marlissa Hudson enjoy local and international reputations. Colin was tenor soloist in the National Philharmonic’s performance of Beethoven’s 9th and represented the U.S. Army Chorus as a soloist during the USO’s “Hope and Freedom” tours in the Middle East. Marlissa, who made her professional debut singing Summertime with the Baltimore Symphony Pops under the baton of Marvin Hamlisch, has collaborated with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra and National Philharmonic, and has been featured in productions in Bulgaria and Paraguay. The duo knows that through life’s trials and tribulations hardships can often block our paths. When we find ourselves at our lowest point, what pushes us to pick ourselves up and fight for a better tomorrow? Faith; faith that no weight or struggle will be placed upon us that we cannot handle. It is that faith that has brought Colin and Marlissa together in song. With a house divided, hopes and dreams of a life together shattered, and a family torn apart, their hearts mended. While a marriage was lost, reconciliation brought about friendship. Through it all, faith brought them to a place of peace and understanding – and motivated them to share a musical journey of their physical and emotional trials. Colin and Marlissa welcome all on this journey; recalling love, love lost, and lives renewed with a collection of arias, spirituals, and songs from the theater. Alex Chan will accompany on piano.
